If you’re going to be using your table lamps as task reading lights, and not just as a purely decorative design light, here are a few tips to keep in mind. Reading light is most effective when it comes from behind you at shoulder height. For maximum comfort and minimal glare, consider table lamps with adjustable lamp heads or those where the bottom of the lamp shade is at (or below) eye level, which will keep the bulb from shining directly in your eyes.
